When I walked into this class I knew basics. What a camera is and what it does. I knew about aperture and shutter speed but was clueless of what they did! If you came up to me and asked what ISO was I would have no idea. No I use these basic things every time I pull out my camera. My favorite thing is to come in Monday and start editing photos. I remember editing my first set of photos. I had chosen to do animals and had a few great photos. I plugged my camera in and logged onto the camera and opened Light room. While it's loading I turn on my music. I import my photos and click on them and it was like WOW. Seeing my photos on such a clear screen just amazed me. They were so sharp and crisp! I like taking portraits of people. I had a really fun time taking the wedding photos. I loved capturing the emotion without anything being posed or faked. That's why I got into photography in the first place, to capture the real. I like the twinkle in someones eye when the light shines off them. It draws your eye into the photo. The picture on the left is my worst and the image on the right is my best. The left image is dark and grainy. I didn't have great lighting and turning up my ISO made a very grainy photo. The reason I think the right picture is my best is because it's clear, interesting, and balanced. One of my favorite assignments was light painting. My friends had a great time helping me create these photos. Though taking them took a little while. My only wish for these photos is that they were more focused.

This week I was trying to do the MACRO assignment. I took pictures of bulbs on a Christmas tree. I focused in on the bulb and blurred out the lights and trees. I turned this black and white and turned down the highlights. I turned up the exposure and contrast
This week I focused on black and white photography. This was slightly challenging because without color a image lacks characteristics so you sort of have to put a meaning or more of a interest in your subject. I turned this black and white. I contrasted the whites and blacks a little more. I also took away a lot of highlights so you could see the statues face more.
I learned how to edit layers and to create layers. I also leaned how to use the lasso tool and how to use that tool to edit a object or focus I want to edit.
We practiced panning a photo today. That means we take picture where there is motion a focusing on a subject with blurry background. This seemed easy but as we started to shoot I kept getting a blurry subject and background. I realized my mistake was I was not putting the camera into manual focus. Once I did I was able to capture a still subject and blurry background.
For this assignment I did light painting. Light Painting is when you leave your exposure for a few seconds and move light to create a 'painting' affect. I took these photos in a park and my friends modeled and helped with lights. What I hoped to do with these photos is to create the illusion of superpowers. I turned up the contrast and exposure in this photo. I wanted to focus on the face and let the eye drift towards the light she is holding. I like how her body matches the dark space I feel it helps draw in the eye to the main focus.
I learned how to stitch things together in photoshop. I also learned to try all settings to se which ones look best with the photo. I found the tripod extremely helpful and using the thirds graph to take photos helpful as well. This was cool project and I had a fun time with it.
In tis assignment I chose to do the OPEN assignment. I took photos of my cousin's wedding ceremony. I hoped to capture the joy and raw emotion of the bride and groom's faces. The picture below is favorite because it is the most real and somewhat humorous. I turned this photo black and white to draw in the viewers eye into the people' faces. I felt like that background distracted the viewer to much. I made the photo slightly darker. I truly love this photo.
I did PEOPLE this week. I took these photos of my friends during the night of Homecoming. These were fun to take because people were nervous and you had to get them to loosen up. That's why the photo below is my favorite. It shows true and raw emotion. That's also what I learned with this project. You have to get your subject loose for a good photo. I turned this image black and white I did this because they're was so much color that you were overwhelmed and didn't know where to look, that you were missing the emotion of the picture.
In this project we learned many useful tools in photoshop. We started with a picture of a car with a noisy background and too many reflections. We painted over some reflections and made the background black. We learned hot to use the brush tool, the stamp tool, the select tool and how to make a layer.
